SUMMARY
Assists in ensuring accuracy and timeliness of accounting records and financial reporting, monitoring the financial condition and financial activities of the organization. Adheres to and enforces internal Departmental and Agency policies and procedures. Provides back-up support to the Accounts Payable Specialist.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. (Note: other duties may be assigned.)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Key Performance Indicator (KPI)
Prepares NCDPI claims, determines client eligibility for meals and updates files accordingly. Submits for final approval by the 5th of each month.
Performs these tasks on time 100% of the time
Maintain schedule of temporarily restricted grants, with monthly updates for releases and new grant activity. Ensures YTD invoice submission does not exceed the maximum allowable contract amount.

Download bank transactions daily, email details to applicable recipients and submit entries for review by 10am. Send notification of Operating account balance to CFO weekly by Noon on Mondays, and reclassify ACH and credit card transactions weekly on Tuesdays.

Perform Payroll task as assigned, including but not limited to calculating merit pay changes daily and exporting payroll reports and identifying variances bi-weekly.
Performs these tasks on time 100% of the time
Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts by the 25 of each month for the previous month’s activity.
Performs these tasks on time 90% of the time
Month-end-closing duties completed according to established schedule. (e.g. journal entries, bank account reconciliations, Advancement recons, internal Grant reporting)

Assists in year-end preparation of audit schedules, and submits for final review according to established schedule.

Assigned tasks for monthly credit card expense reporting, including but not limited to reviewing receipts and recording sales tax when applicable. Notifying Cardholders of any disparities and ensuring GL account coding aligns with Agency expense account structure. Submit for final review according to established schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred; Master’s highly preferred. Proven track record of success within this field.
Experience in healthcare preferred; advanced MS Excel and Microsoft GP Dynamics skills; able to execute work with a high standard of accuracy and precision; highly organized; excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to think creatively, highly self-motivated; able to roll-up sleeves and work with team members in a hands-on management capacity.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read analyze and interpret complex documents including contracts and financial statements. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to make effective presentations to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to use mathematical skills such as interest calculations, net present value, variance analysis, percentages, and projection.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions and problem solve. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
